Readpeak has rapidly risen to a leading position with our platform, which enables an easy way for agencies and brands to integrate and time communication within the news flow of news media websites. Now, the Finnish growth investment firm Voland Partners is making a private equity investment in Readpeak. We’re currently operating in nine European countries, and have more than tripled our revenue in the past three years. The revenue is expected to reach €15 million for the financial year ending in June.

“We have expanded organically and profitably to eight countries in addition to Finland. The international reception has been excellent. The usability of our platform and the highly efficient machine learning models we have developed have given us an advantage that even global competitors like Google have not been able to close,” says our CEO, Tomas Forsbäck.

Our platform ensures that our clients’ native ads are targeted at the right websites and audiences. At the same time, the ads will always visually align with each site’s style and blend seamlessly into the site’s news flow.

“We actually only realized our competitive edge a few years ago when we launched the service in Sweden. At that point, we noticed that we had perhaps refined our product too much before the launch, less would have been enough. (…) Since Sweden, every new market has proven just how far ahead we are, not only technologically but also in terms of user experience,” Forsbäck explains.

Readpeak is the sixth investment from Voland Partners’ first €57 million growth fund. Voland invests minority stakes in profitable and growing technology businesses, with a typical initial investment ranging from €3 million to €5 million.

“Readpeak has the qualities we look for in a company: technology-driven competitive advantage and skilled, ambitious people who are enjoyable to work with. Co-entrepreneurship often involves leveraging the expertise of specialists within our networks, mentoring entrepreneurs and work communities on their growth journey, and supporting strategy and board development,” says Marcus Blomqvist, a partner at Voland Partners.

In Voland Partners’ co-entrepreneurship investment model, the firm becomes a minority shareholder while its team advises and innovates on company decision-making, structures, and integration into broader networks. The funding also ensures that companies can sufficiently invest in technology, product, and service development.

“Discussions with the Voland team have clarified which changes are crucial as we prepare to enter even larger markets,” says Forsback.

“When the model for implementing change is clear, it’s possible to maintain growth momentum, enter multiple markets simultaneously, and carry out ownership, organizational structure, board, and decision-making reforms.”
